  •  Passport to Prosperity is an employer outreach program supported by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
  • The Career Education Council coordinates Passport to Prosperity in Wellington and Dufferin Counties.
  • Passport to Prosperity is designed to increase employer involvement and participation in career education and school -to- work opportunities for students in Grades 7 to 12.
  • School-to-work learning opportunities such as career talks, job shadowing, short-term work experience and cooperative education placements.

A Provincial Partnership Council composed of key business and community leaders was created in April 1999 to lead this employer recruitment effort and to help create more opportunities for high school students to get work experiences. In Wellington and Dufferin over 900 employers have agreed to support Passport to Prosperity.

Work experiences ...

  • Give students exposure to a variety of career options
  • Help boost their student confidence and let them build a network of references
  • Create better-prepared workers, and reduce time-consuming and costly recruiting, hiring and training efforts;
  •  Help enhance the work ethic in students, and provide valuable lessons such as pride in a job well done, punctuality, dependability and honesty.

Employers Needed !
To meet the increased demand for work connections for students, more employers willing to provide work experiences are required.

Employers can help connect students to the world of work by providing various kinds of work experiences. By working together, employers and schools can ensure that students develop the skills, attitudes and knowledge necessary for future success.
