Career Education Council
Guelph Wellington Dufferin

The Career Education Council is a not-for-profit business & education council dedicated to building partnerships among business, education, labour and the community for the benefit of youth. Career Education Council programs and services connect young people to the world of work 

Mission Statement:
The Career Education Council of Guelph Wellington Dufferin develops opportunities for youth, which facilitate workplace and career learning, enabling individuals to acquire knowledge and skills to make connections to meaningful work, resulting in economic and workforce development.

Background
The Career Education Council was established in 1990, by the Rotary Club of Guelph, the Wellington Catholic District School Board, and the Upper Grand District School Board with support from the Guelph Chamber of Commerce and the United Way.

A volunteer Board of Directors from business, industry, education, the community and labour directs the work of the Council.
The Career Education Council supports and contributes to the community by:

  • developing workplace learning opportunities for youth
  • providing information and experiences so young people can learn about and experience the workplace

Did you know that...

  • 550 students attended Life After High School in 2008
  • 5,000 students were directly connected to local businesses this year
  • over 1000 employers are prepared to offer speakers, tours, co-operative education placements, etc. so youth can learn about and experience today's workplace
